The Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK), in its continued commitment to community welfare and service, successfully organized a comprehensive dental camp at St Joseph’s Higher Primary School, Nanthur, Mangalore. The camp was conducted in collaboration with the esteemed team of dental professionals from A.J. Institute of Dental Sciences, whose expertise and dedication ensured the programme’s resounding success.
The event commenced with a simple yet dignified inaugural ceremony. The Headmistress of the school Mrs Irene Noronha, extended a warm and gracious welcome to the distinguished guests, doctors, teachers, and students, setting a tone of enthusiasm and purpose for the day. The President of CASK Mr Ronald Gomes, the Correspondent of the school Rev Fr Walter D’Souza, Dr Deeksha Nayak, Dr Ashwini Colaco, Dr Henric Lobo, Mrs Marjorie Texeira and headmistress of the school ceremoniously lit the traditional lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the ushering in of knowledge, particularly in the vital area of oral health.
Following the inauguration, the President of CASK addressed the gathering with an enlightening and engaging speech. Emphasizing the significance of maintaining proper oral hygiene, the President spoke in a manner that was both informative and accessible to the young audience. The students were educated on the importance of regular brushing, healthy dietary habits, and routine dental check-ups. The address also highlighted how oral health is intrinsically linked to overall well-being, thereby encouraging the children to adopt disciplined hygiene practices from an early age.
The Correspondent of the school, in his brief address, expressed heartfelt appreciation towards CASK for organizing such a meaningful and impactful initiative. He lauded the association for its unwavering dedication to community service and for extending its outreach to young students who greatly benefit from such programmes. He also acknowledged the efforts of the dental team from A.J. Institute, whose professional service added immense value to the camp.
