The Lenten Recollection organised by CASK on 25th March at St Agnes College Chapel, was a spiritual sojourn; of profound introspection, grace, and renewal. Centered on the deeply evocative themes of Love, Sacrifice and Reflection on the Cross, it drew the participants into a contemplative embrace of the true essence of the Lenten journey.
The session commenced with an enlightening discourse by Fr.Kenneth Crasta, who eloquently expounded on the true essence of Love. With a rare blend of theological depth and pastoral warmth, he illuminated how divine love is neither abstract nor distant, but vividly alive in our everyday experiences. He reminded the audience that God’s love is unconditional, sacrificial, and ever-present,an eternal flame that continues to guide and sustain humanity.
This was followed by an equally stirring address by Fr Melroy Crasta, who ignited within the congregation a renewed spirit of Sacrifice. Drawing inspiration from the life of Jesus, he spoke with conviction about the ultimate sacrifice made on the Cross, comparing the old and the New Testament – urging all present to embody this spirit in their own lives. His words resonated deeply, challenging everyone to transcend comfort and embrace selflessness in their journey of faith.
A particularly moving segment of the session was the reflection “On the Holy Cross”, brought alive by three readers Mrs Patra Saladanha, Mrs Ramona Mathias and Mrs Nayana Fernandes. Through their poignant readings, they gently led the audience into a space of quiet contemplation, enabling each individual to personally connect with the suffering, redemption, and hope symbolised by the Cross.
The choir led by Mr Jason Lobo and group, added a sublime dimension to the evening; with their melodious voices – elevating the spiritual atmosphere. Each hymn was rendered with devotion and finesse, creating moments of transcendence that lingered long after the notes had faded.
The entire session was seamlessly conducted by Mrs Marjorie Texeira – V.P and Program Co-odinator of CASK whose effortless command over the proceedings ensured a smooth and engaging flow.
In its entirety, the Lenten session was not merely a program, but a deeply enriching spiritual experience, one that invited all present to rediscover the transformative power of love, the nobility of sacrifice, and the enduring significance of the Cross.
