Dr. Eric Lobo elected President of CASK
Mangaluru, September 27: Dr. Eric Lobo has been elected President of the Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK) for the 2026–2028 term. The results were formally announced by Election Officer Mr. Ronald Castelino following the conclusion of the Association’s 113th Annual General Body Meeting, held at Avila Hall, St Agnes College, Mangaluru, on September 27, 2026.
Dr. Eric Lobo, M.Sc., Ph.D., FIFCC, is a clinical biochemist and academician with extensive experience in medical education, research and clinical laboratory services. He presently serves as Professor of Biochemistry at Yenepoya Medical, Dental, Nursing and Physiotherapy Colleges, Mangaluru, where he has contributed to teaching, research and mentoring of healthcare professionals.
The newly elected office-bearers are:
- Dr. Rohan Monis and Mr. Oswald D’Souza, Vice Presidents;
- Mr. Ronald Mendonca, Secretary;
- Mr. Brian J. Pinto, Joint Secretary; and
- Mr. Ashwin Albert DSouza, Treasurer.
The Governing Council members are Mr. Ian Lobo, Mr. Peter Anthony Pinto, Mr. Sheldon Crasta, Mr. Darryl D’Souza, Mr. Jackson Saldanha, Mr. Ashwin M. Sequeira, Ms. Zita Usha Fernandes, Dr. Paul G. Aquinas, Ms. Sapna Noronha and Mr. Nelson Castelino. Mr. Ronald Gomes will serve as Immediate Past President.
The 113th AGBM was presided over by outgoing President Mr. Ronald Gomes. Following a prayer led by Ms. Sapna Noronha, the President welcomed the members. Vice President Dr. Rohan Monis placed on record a brief statement regarding the CASK Centenary Trust matter and the ongoing mediation process. Secretary Mr. Peter Anthony Pinto presented the minutes of the previous AGM, while Treasurer Mr. Ronald Mendonca presented the financial reports. The Annual Report for 2025 benefactor and the financial statements were adopted by the members.
Election Officer Mr. Ronald Castelino, PRO of the Diocese of Mangalore and a Benefactor Member of CASK, conducted the election process. After scrutinizing the nominations and finding them in order, he declared the nominated candidates elected unopposed, as no other nominations had been received.
The outgoing President congratulated the new team. Following the formal announcement, newly elected President Dr. Eric Lobo shared his vision for strengthening CASK and enhancing its service to the community. Treasurer-Elect Mr. Ashwin Albert DSouza proposed the vote of thanks.
The new leadership brings together experienced CASK members and younger leaders, combining continuity with fresh perspectives, new energy and a renewed commitment to the Association and the wider community as CASK begins its new term.
