FOUNDATION DAY MESSAGE: -๐ 19th July 2025 โ A Day of Pride, Legacy & Purpose
Today, we raise our hearts in gratitude and celebration as the Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK) completes a phenomenal 111 years of purposeful existence!*
Founded on 19th July 1914 , the Catholic Association of South Kanara is more than just an organization โ it is a movement of faith, service, leadership, and unity, built by the people, for the people, and driven by the noble mission to uplift our Konkan Catholic community.
โ Rooted in Faith, Led by the Laity
Right from inception, the Catholic Association of South Kanara was envisioned as a lay-led organization, with the bishop as its titular head and the real executive power entrusted to dynamic lay Vice Presidents โ a visionary structure, way ahead of its time.
From Bishop Paul Perini, the third and final Jesuit Bishop of Mangalore, to the inspiring tenures of Monsignor R.F.C. Mascarenhas, Fr. Charles B. Lobo, and finally, the first lay President Maurice Sreshta in 1951 โ our journey reflects how empowered laity can lead with integrity and vision.
Today, under the stewardship of our President, two Vice Presidents, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer, and Governing Council, the Catholic Association of South Kanara is marching forward with renewed vitality and commitment. ๐ช
โจ The Power of the Pen โ 98 Years of โMangaloreโ Magazine
Born in July 1927, โMangaloreโ, Catholic Association of South Kanaraโs official monthly magazine, has been a voice of heritage, hope, and harmony โ proudly narrating our communityโs story across 98 glorious years without a break!
๐ It is more than a publication โ it is a living chronicle of our people, culture, and progress. One of the longest-running magazines of its kind in India, โMangaloreโ continues to inform, inspire, and influence. If you have not read it lately, you are missing a treasure! ๐ซ
๐ซ The CASK Centenary Trust โ Service with Impact
In 2014, during its centenary year, the Catholic Association of South Kanara gave birth to a new arm of service โ the CASK Centenary Trust. Registered as a subsidiary entity and governed by a resolution passed by the General Body, this Trust is dedicated to education, healthcare, housing, and social upliftment .
The President, 2 Vice Presidents, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Catholic Association of South Kanara are supposed to serve as ex-officio Trustees, ensuring transparency and alignment with the parent bodyโs core values.
๐ Vision & Mission โ Lighting the Way Forward
๐ Vision: To build and nurture a connected, caring, and proud community of Konkan Catholics across the globe.
๐ค Mission: To reach out to the marginalized with support in education, healthcare, and housing. To preserve our unique culture and heritage. To collaborate in environmental conservation and community welfare.
