It was a momentous day for the CASK & CASK TRUST as they disbursed scholarships worth Rs. 30 lakhs to 316 children of all faiths and religions on June 29th, 2024, at the St. Sebastian Centenary Auditorium, Bendoor.
The scholarship distribution program was presided over by our patron, Rt. Rev. Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha, and the renowned entrepreneur Mr. Michael D’Souza, who served as the chief guest.
The function commenced with His Lordship, Bishop Peter Paul, being welcomed with rose petals and felicitated with a song by the Manipuri students on the feast of his patron saints, St. Peter and Paul, followed by an invocation song invoking the blessings of the Almighty. The symbolic lamp was lit, adding solemnity to the event.
A welcome address was delivered by the Managing Trustee of CASK TRUST, Captain Vincent Pais.
Mr. Michael D’Souza, the chief guest, delivered a motivational and impactful address to the students, enlightening them on the importance of studying hard for a bright future and not to be disillusioned by occasional failures.
Mr. Ulhas Rasquinha, the coordinator of the Scholarship Distribution Program, in his brief address, outlined the criteria for the scholarships, which were largely based on the low economic status of the students’ families, with all 316 beneficiaries coming from marginalized and distressed backgrounds.
It was a proud moment when 316 scholarships were personally handed over by His Lordship the Bishop and various other endowment donors and sponsors to the students, who wore happy smiles on their faces.
His Lordship Bishop Peter Paul addressed the gathering and offered special words of advice to the children, motivating them to become success stories in the future.
A very touching moment occurred when two beneficiaries of earlier scholarships expressed their gratitude to the CASK TRUST. Immanuel Goveas, who lost both his parents during COVID, was accompanied by his younger brother Dominic, who presented a rosebud to all the dignitaries. A displaced student from Manipur also expressed how grateful she was, and how the scholarship had significantly helped her during her trying situation.
The function concluded with Dr. Anand Pereira, the Secretary of the CASK TRUST & CASK, expressing his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed their time, effort, and resources to make this event significant.
